Please join us as OWHC as thousands of Jews around the world participate in the 12th Annual World Wide Wrap.  Rabbi Karro, a very talented Sofer will be joining us again, as we lay tefillin.  All are welcome, Men, Women & Children.

Sisterhood Judaism 104: Jewish Women

Purim

Thursday, March 7th

Purim Carnival beginning at 5:00pm.  Carnival games, and even a pizza dinner at 6:00pm.  Afterward join us for the Megillah reading in the Main Sanctuary at 6:30pm.  (see below)

Kitah Vav Tallit Program “Wrapped in Tradition”

Sunday, February 5th at 10:30am - 12:30pm

Families will finish making the tallit that the students prepared in class, including tying Tzitzit and adding the blessing

 

Rabbi Karro – Scribe   

Monday, February 6th ~ During School Class Time

Rabbi Karro will show children how  a scared document is written (Mezzuzah or a Torah)

 

Tu BiShevat Seders & class discussions    

Monday, February 6th & Wednesday, February 8th ~ During School Class Time

Teachers will be teaching about Tu BiShevat in the classrooms.  Students will get an opportunity to taste various Tu BiShevat foods (no nuts!)

 

Kitah Hey (5th Grade) ~ Shabbat Morning Service & Luncheon

Saturday, February 11th  

The Kitah Hey (5th Grade) class will help to lead Shabbat Morning Services. Hey students need to be at OWHC at 9am.  There will be a Kiddush Luncheon following the service.

 

Joint OWHC & TBS Gesher / Machon HS Program

Monday, February 27th  

Dinner at 6:30pm; 7:00 – 8:00pm Program.  Details to follow

Purim Carnival & Megillah Reading

Thursday, March 7th ~ starting at 5:00pm

Join us in our Mitzvah Project, assembling Mishlo’ah Manot Mitzvah Baskets to be delivered to a local shelter.  Carnival games, Costume Parade and even a pizza dinner at 6:00pm!  Afterward join us for the Purim Puppet Show (Nursery – 1st Grade) in the Chapel sponsored by Nursery School PTA or the Megillah reading (2nd Grade and up) in the Main Sanctuary at 6:30pm.  Our Purim Event will be run by the Religious School and the Social Action Teens.  Questions, please call Dana Katz at 516-241-2324.

Exploring the mysteries of Kaballah

Wednesdays ~ 11:00am – 12:00pm (Wed Jan 18th until Feb 15th)

For 5 sessions we will meet at the home of Geralda Sarraf, at 25 Applegreen Drive, Old Westbury.  There is a $25 charge per class, or $100 total for all 5 classes.

 

Adult B’nai Mitzvah

Soulful Thursday: The Spirits of Judaism

Join us for a completely new type of experience and source of spiritual comfort.  Together we will experience prayer followed by various topics and reflections on God, life and loss which will be discussed openly in a supportive group setting
